Arm of the Lord
Psalm 113
God uses anthropomorphisms throughout the Bible. Man was made in His image, so when you give someone a right hook (that’s a figure of speech meaning a quick punch with a medium to narrow radius, just in case you aren’t used to figures of speech) you are doing something with your God-given body that God can do with a single Word. But the Word takes on flesh.
All this symbolic stuff is seriously consistent. The Tabernacle was also an image of the human body, ie, man as temple of the Spirit. The menora (the Lampstand with seven flaming eyes) was in His right hand. In Revelation, Jesus has 7 stars in His right hand — the church pastors. He judges their churches, passes over them, and then calls them to witness His judgment upon the eighth church. [1]
We have worked through Creation (Psalm 111) and Division (Psalm 112). Psalm 113 is a song of Ascension. Ascension concerns the sudden exaltation (like lightning) of the Covenant head to the right hand of the power, seen typically in Joseph and Mordecai after a typical “passover” event. [2]
In Joseph, we see a man who was betrayed over and over again, but faithfully persevered even though the Lord gave no (recorded) word to him that his future would be anything but slavery. (No doubt, he remembered the words given to his grandfather, Abraham, that His people would also be slaves in Egypt for 400 years.) Eventually, Joseph was exalted overnight, like lightning.
Matthew 24:27 “For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man [to His throne] be.”
In Mordecai, we see a Jew (an Adam) who finally witnessed faithfully to the church (Esther as Eve) to reveal her identity. The usurping serpent, Haman, was deposed overnight—as lightning. Interestingly, of the seven elected Judges, Deborah’s story appears at Ascension. Her right hand man Barak’s name means “lightning.” Belshazzar was also deposed overnight, and so were the rulers of the first century spiritual Babylon, the Herods.
Luke 10:18 “And He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.’”
The man who bows the knee, who humbles himself, is the one God exalts. This is simply because, like the centurion, the man understands the source of his authority. Since he can be trusted, God can take an Adam of dust and make him His right hand (metal) man.
Since Jesus’ ascension, He is God’s right hand Man. The history between His ascension in AD30 and AD70 concerns His humbling and purifying of the Firstfruits Church. Just before AD70, when Jesus came as a thief in the night and the menora was lifted by the Romans (recorded for us in the Arch of Titus [3]), the Christian church became Jesus’ right arm. God’s delegation of authority to faithful men (who can then teach others) means His right arm is more than a simple anthropomorphism. It is an arm of glorified, Spirit-filled flesh.
Jeremiah 51:20 “You are My battle-ax, weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms…”
The church — in submission to its leaders as delegate Covenant heads (ev-angels!) — is the arm of God, the fire of Pentecost in Jesus’ right hand.
Hebrews 1:7 “And of the angels he saith, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”

Passover (Division – darkness)
From the rising of the sun
to its going down
The LORD’s name is to be praised.
Firstfruits (Ascension – the Covenant Head)
The LORD is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Pentecost (Testing – Heavenly Rulers who are humble and ‘see’)
Who is like the LORD our God,
…..Who dwells on high,
……….Who humbles Himself
…..to behold the things
that are in the heavens and in the earth?
Trumpets (Maturity – Plagues and Plunder – the resurrected Covenant Body)
He raises the poor out of the dust,
and lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
Atonement (Conquest – Day 6)
That He
…..may seat him
……….with princes –
…..With the princes
of His people.
Booths (Glorification – Rest)
He grants (Transcendence – source)
…..the barren woman (Hierarchy – delegation)
……….a home, (Ruling Covenant Body – Ethics)
…..Like a joyful (Sanctions)
mother of children. (Succession)
(The odds are certainly that the unbroken verses above are also carefully structured, but you’d have to check the Hebrew in all cases. It’s hard to tell without the original word order.)

Hi Robert
Your chiasm reminded me that the final Praise the Lord most likely belongs to the next Psalm (see Victor’s comment on the introduction to this series). It really needs to be at the beginning of Psalm 114. I’ve removed it from this post.
