When I first read some James Jordan, I found it a little strange. He forced me to think in new ways. Now I wonder why nobody else seems to think this way. I make a glib reference to “knife and fire” and get strange looks. Has no one before Jordan realised the process of barbecue as an illustration of reality?
Anyhow, when I got into his lectures I felt like I’d found a treasure in a field. Rather than furtively burying it like a body in Egyptian sand, and setting about buying the field, I started blogging about it, and writing about it. As a friend’s wife said to me once, “Michael, you just can’t help teaching, can you?” No. And I’m like a firehose, especially after a coffee (alpha drink) or a scotch (omega drink). But I am learning to slow it down to an easy pour. (That’s another thing I like about Jordan. With all the connections going on in his head, he still manages to teach at a walking pace.)
So, to get a letter like the following is immensely gratifying. Mission accomplished, at least concerning Gary Pfleegor, who writes:

A couple of months ago I purchased the paperback version of Bible Matrix and next paycheck I will be ordering Bible Matrix II. I must admit I eagerly read the first couple chapters of Bible Matrix when it arrived. I struggled a bit at first. It felt like I had to connect the dots a little between some of your thoughts. I will admit that is likely my fault for not being knowledgeable enough. I have however recently picked it up again and gave it another go with much more success (and perseverance). I have enjoyed much of the insights you have pointed out. I’m not sure I’m yet able to see the structure on my own. But I enjoy learning it immensely.
I first and foremost wanted to thank you for your time, your website, your efforts and study that have provided me with some good information. I truly enjoy the depth and beauty of God’s Word. I am often saddened by just how little the average person sees and expects from God’s Word.
Thank you for pointing me to others like Leithart and Jordan. You have stretched me and opened up a wonderful realm of depth and understanding.
